SanDisk Launches Solid-State Hard Drive – News and Analysis by PC Magazine

Based entirely on NAND flash RAM, the 32GB SanDisk UATA 5000 is a 1.8-inch form-factor drive that features a 62 Mbyte/sec throughput for a 512-byte transfer rate—more than 100 times faster than most hard disk drives, SanDisk claims.

The drive also only draws 0.4 watts during active operation, which the company says is (on average) 50 to 87 percent less power than most standard notebook hard drives require.
