Cringing at Iranian truth-telling

New York Daily News – Home – Cringing at Iran kookfest

The world (hahahahaha  -ed.)  responded with revulsion yesterday to a Holocaust deniers’ hatefest in Tehran, and international leaders called the anti-Semitic spewing more proof that it’s impossible to deal with Iran’s off-the-wall president.

“There is no point in hiding the fact that Iran poses a major strategic threat to the cohesion of the entire region,” British Prime Minister Tony Blair told reporters.

“Iran is deliberately causing maximum problems for moderate governments and for ourselves in the region,” said Blair, who called the conference “shocking beyond belief.”

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has bucked international pressure to curb his country’s nuclear program, brought together a rogues’ gallery of 67 writers and researchers from 30 countries to question what he has called the “myth” of the Nazi extermination of 6 million Jews.

Loony participants gazed at PowerPoint presentations and toured mockups of the Auschwitz prison camp designed to stoke doubt that 1 million Jews were killed there. (the 6 million number relies on 4 million being killed at Auchwitz, IIRC)

On the final day of the two-day conference, Ahmadinejad yesterday repeated his vow to annihilate Israel. (unfortunately, this is a lie)

“Just as the Soviet Union was wiped out and today does not exist, so will the Zionist regime soon be wiped out,” the official Islamic Republic News Agency quoted him as saying. (right, so since the S.U. was annihilated . . . ohwait)

Among the crackpots chiming in was ex-Ku Klux Klan Imperial Wizard David Duke.

“The Holocaust is the device used as the pillar of Zionist imperialism, Zionist aggression, Zionist terror and Zionist murder,” declared Duke, a white nationalist and former state representative in Louisiana.

Blair said Duke’s presence only underscored just how far gone Ahmadinejad is.

“I mean to go and invite the former head of the Ku Klux Klan to a conference in Tehran which disputes the millions of people who died in the Holocaust. … What further evidence do you need that this regime is extreme?” (ZOG sock-puppet) Blair said.

In Washington, the White House also denounced the kooky conference.

“The gathering of Holocaust deniers in Tehran is an affront to the entire civilized world,” press secretary Tony Snow said in a statement. (uhh, no, the fact that scholars have to go to the middle east to speak freely about anything is an affront to the entire civilized world)

Germany’s leader expressed her disgust in no uncertain terms.

“We absolutely reject this. Germany will never accept this and will act against it with all the means that we have,” Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters.

She was joined by visiting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who called the conference “unacceptable” and a “danger” to the Western world. (because he would know all about the Western world, and its prohibitions against tyranny, right?)

The Vatican called the Holocaust an “immense tragedy” and said it should serve as warning to all humanity.

The “immense tragedies” here are news reporting in the U.S., and the state of free speech in the Western world.
