Gay parade rerouted The upcoming Jerusalem gay pride parade has been rerouted in a bid to avoid angering the city´s religious communities. Organizers of the march said Tuesday that, following consultations with police, it would not take place in the center of Jerusalem but, instead, around the government buildings on the capital´s western outskirts. The event, which will likely be attended by thousands of gay activists from Israel and abroad, is tentatively scheduled to take place on Friday afternoon, but could be postponed, police said. Orthodox protestors have been rioting on an almost daily basis in Jerusalem and other Israeli cities against the planned parade. While the relocation means marchers will not come near religious neighborhoods in Jerusalem, counter-demonstrations are still expected.
